Houthi Missile Strike Leaves Dozens Dead, Injured in Yemen
Shabwa’s deputy governor said the attack hit Al-Alam military camp in the Jardan district, where newly recruited personnel were receiving training before entering the security forces.
Initial reports indicated that the number of casualties had reached approximately 40, although the exact figures for fatalities and injuries had not been established.
A spokesperson for the Yemeni armed forces said the Houthi group launched three ballistic missiles toward the province, striking a training facility used by security and police personnel.
The military representative accused the Houthis of deliberately targeting Yemenis across different parts of the country. The group had not issued an immediate response to the reported strike.
The incident comes as confrontations continue to intensify between Houthi fighters and forces supporting Yemen’s internationally recognized government, which receives backing from a Saudi-led coalition.
Yemen has remained embroiled in conflict since 2014, when the Houthis captured the capital, Sanaa, along with extensive areas of the country’s north, triggering years of fighting and political instability.
